My program started on 3rd Jan 2020 (I think), and on 12th April 2020, I left my blood pressure medication. 3.5 months! Despite my travel heavy job, constant fatigue from taking flights and living in hotel rooms.
I had believed being a vegetarian I was already doing all things right... but not realising the harmful effects of dairy products like curd, paneer and eggs in my food everyday.
It was an easy instruction to follow - Is it whole food? Is it plant based? If the answer is no, don't put it on your plate. One of my other filtering ideas is - Does your food produce trash?
I had believed being a vegetarian I was already doing all things right... but not realising the harmful effects of dairy products like curd, paneer and eggs in my food everyday.
When I started the program I was skeptical of continuing this program, because of all my travel etc. But with the help of the Daily Dozen app and the online course (which I am yet to finish completely), combined with strength training & yoga... I realised there is so much to eat, even after leaving dairy. I learnt to dig out dairy free recipes, added a lot of fruits and salads into my diet, replaced wheat with brown rice and millets.
Once in a while I have messed up too. Like not resisting the temptation of a Belgian Chocolate Ice cream (I have now learnt to make my own banana ice cream). But I have realised that the human body is so powerful that what we do 350 days is far more important than how we mess up 15 days of the year. The body forgives, heals, strengthens. One has to keep consistency though.
My last 3 years of strength training only got better with WFPB diet. There were days where I felt I can lift a building. I look forward to my strength training workouts and Yoga, ending my day with stretching. I also feel strength training is women's way to challenge gender barriers. Instead of focusing on 'shrinking', it shifts women's focus on getting 'stronger'.
My BP without medication is mostly around 115/75 these days, I lost 6 inches from my waist and 3 kilos on the scale in just 3.5 months.
This journey isn't about lost kilos and inches, it also significantly enhances who I am, what i do and who I want to be. Now that I have personally experienced the power of WFPB diets and strength training, I know I am committed to this process for life long.
This was so simple and sustainable, that I can't believe everyone on the planet hasn't shifted to WFPB diets already!
Deep gratitude to you , Dr. Achyuthan Eswar and Your Team! - Shalini Menon
